What kind of printing equipments does Ajanta have?
Matching
our technology in the pre-press, is an array of the best printing
machines. One-colour to six-colours Roland, Miller and Heidelberg
sheet-fed offset machines that can handle the most demanding quality
colour job, coupled with an independent web offset press dedicated
to book printing, giving us both world-class print quality and
the capability to meet the tightest schedules.
And to ensure that our presses are always well fed, we have a
ready stock of a variety of premium imported papers, the best
quality inks, blankets and other consummables.

What kind of prepress equipments does Ajanta have?
The
machines in our electronic pre-press section are among the most
advanced anywhere in the world. Power Macintoshes and Silicon
Graphics work stations for design, layout and artworks. Dr. Hell
digital scanners for quality scanning and creative workstations
for retouching, colour correction and page makeup, all connected
to the latest Hell Postscript recorders for output. Add to that
a system for on-line soft proofing as well as conventional WET
proofing, QC procedures that follow GATF standards, wide and complete
range of Linotype Hell recorders, daylight exposing units, automatic
films and plate processors, FAG proof presses and you have one
of India’s best pre-press setups. We do electronic imposition
using the most reliable PREPS software. Of course, we also have
a number of skilled stripping and assembly personnel that supplement
the electronic pre-press as and when required.

What kind of finishing and bindery equipments does Ajanta have?
With
facilities ranging from saddle-stitching to thread sewing to perfect
binding for books, spiral or wiro-binding for booklets and calendars,
to all kinds of laminations, foil stamping and case making for
hard cover books, we have a large bindery that is capable of all
kinds of finishing using wide range of Polar, Seypha, Perfecta,
Hoerauf, Smythe, Kolbus equipments. That is why all of our jobs
have the same international quality finish.

What is Ajanta's Policy for the safeguarding the Environment?
Our
Objective: The objective of Ajanta is to undertake print/production
jobs for its clients, which are printed/produced in such a manner
that reflects our responsibilities not only towards the environment
but also the health and safety of its employees.
Statutory
Regulations: Ajanta has obtained annual permits, related to
the law on water pollution, air pollution, and noise pollution.
The latest permits were issued to Ajanta in May 2001, which remains
valid for a period of one year. Therefore we can state that Ajanta
meets the requirements on current government environmental legislation.
Action
Plan for Plants: Ajanta is committed to the safeguarding of
the environmental and follows a strict procedure to control Air/Water
Pollution, Noise pollution as well as Waste Management and Energy
Conservation. Besides this, the company has drawn up an environmental
plan in which the action taken.
Air and Water
Pollution
1.
The daily quantity of domestic effluent from the factory shall
not exceed 4800 liters per day. By monitoring the quantity of
domestic effluent over a period of time the same has been brought
down to 3950 liters per day.
2. The daily quantity of industrial effluent from the factory
is ZERO (process, floor and equipment wash, cooling and bleed
water).
3. Installation of a separated sewage system.
4. The factory will plant minimum three varieties of tree per
acre of unbill area (Eucalyptus, Su Babul, etc.).
5. The waste water discharge is measured and monitored by us
as well as the local authorities. The discharge is also checked
twice a year by the local authorities. Total fresh water consumption
is also recorded.
6. Monitoring of ambient air, stack emissions, and work zone
quality.
7. Testing of waste water, surface water, ground water, etc.
once a year.
Energy Conservation
Ajanta
is in the process of drawing up its own energy conservation
plan which would be in line with the energy bill passed by the
Govt. The plan would be in place by the beginning of the year
2002. This plan would be based on the following:
1. Conservation in generation of electric power.
2. Conservation in distribution of electric power.
3. Efficient utilization of electric power.
4. Efficient utilization petroleum products.
5. Efficient utilization of fuel in transportation.
6. Looking at non-conventional sources of energy (solar and
bio-gas).
Noise Pollution
During
the previous years all kinds of noise reducing measures have
been taken, like installation of additional silencers and isolating
buildings.
Ajanta is also in the process of building an acoustic enclosure
for our D.G. sets for further reducing noise pollution. This
project would be completed by March 2002.
Waste Management
Waste
materials; consisting mainly of paper, board, aluminum and tin
plates are properly graded and stacked and disposed to vendors
for recycling.
Products used
for Printing
Ajanta
uses environment friendly products like BASF Novstar inks (made
of renewable raw materials) and VARN Supreme font solution (which
has an effective preservative systems that inhibits bacteria
growth).

What are the shipping options available?
Ports
used are Mumbai Port and JNPT, Nhava Seva, which is 200 kilometer
from Mumbai. Customs clearance and containerization is done in
New Delhi, which is a dry port. We maintain a frequency of sailing-2
vessel a week to Europe, US and Australian continents and a vessel
a week for the African ports.
